ABOUT ME: **in the process of this...

I was raised with animals my whole life. One of my first pets aside from the "normal" cats and dogs. Was a pet Skunk named Rose Bud. I have had pet Raccoons, mink, skunks, fox and a pure-blooded Timber Wolf. However, I do not encourage wild animals as pets!!!!!
I have also had ferrets, an Iguana, Fish of course! and Hamsters that did not last long from the cats, Parakeets, Eclectis Parrot, Cockatoo, Llamas, Alpacas, Juarizos, Emus, Horses, ponies, Donkeys, Sheep, Goats, Pot Bellies, chickens, ducks, peacocks, guinea hens, pheasants, Cows, rabbits...

I have been SO fortunate in my life to know many other people that share the same love with animals! I have been able to "hang out" with some incredible animals in my life! Camels, Ostrich, Zebras, Bears, Tigers, Cougars, Wolves, Badgers, Porcupines, Endangered spotted Skunk, Fox, Wolverines, Zebu, Watusi, Caribou, Elk, Deer, "P" the Virginia State record Hog (pictured below), reptiles, Raptors... I am sure there are some that I am missing.

One of my most memorable encounters with "wild animals" was when I was able to volunteer in the Florida Keys at the Marine Mammal Conservancy. It was shortly after over 70 Rough Tooth Dolphins had beached themselves. Many had died, some had to be euthanized, some were already released and there were still a hand full that could not be returned to the wild yet. I was fortunate enough to spend many hours in one of the lagoons with 2 adults and one of the babies. On my second shift in the evening, I headed back out to the lagoon. I was equipped with my wet suit and a glowstick around my neck. The dolphins were getting a lot more active and would come speeding straight at me and then turn just before they hit me! I was getting a little nervous as the MMC team had warned me that they are wild and Rough Tooth Dolphins have been known to bite. The two females continued to do this, as I calmed down I started to notice "plopping" noises ahead of them. I could not see in the lagoon unless I was right inline with the light on shore... and then I started getting hit in the head and chest with FLYING SHRIMP! It was quite comical dodging the shrimp as they were fleeing the dolphins and jumping at me because of the light of the glow stick.
One of the females came by and hooked her pectoral fin around my waist to "hold" on to me... for a good hour, I have never felt so honored in my life. She just held on to me and I was petting her and talking to her, it was the most amazing experience!
